Got a BIG decision to make?
Wondering what to do?
Is it keeping you up at night?
Have you been tiptoeing around it for days… weeks even?
Are you hoping that a sign will appear, someway, somehow that will give you some direction?
Sounds like you are stuck.
Here’s the problem: when you don’t make a decision that is looming over you, it keeps you from moving on. Indecision can keep you anxious and on edge. Our brain is a problem solving organ and if the problem or question isn’t put to rest, the brain continually circles around, persistently trying to solve it. This is called having an open loop. Open loops needlessly tax your brain and create anxiety in your life. It’s tiring. It’s exhausting and it keeps you from spending time on other worthwhile things.
Like being creative.
Or savoring the present moment.
Or making a career change.
Or loving the one you’re with.
So what is the answer? To make a decision that takes into account the best scenario for you and your business, make the decision from where you want to be in the future. Imagine yourself, six months, one year or more from the present time and where you want to be in your life.
- What do you want to happen?
- What do you want the details of your life to look like?
Now make that decision based on what will be most effective in getting you there. In essence you are making the decision from the position of your future self, your hopes and dreams. You are removing the questions of, “What if…” and stepping into the necessary actions to reach your goal. This is more that saying, “What would my future self advise?”. Instead you are asking, “What do I want my life to look like at a future date and how will making this decision impact that goal?” Then step into that decision with bold confidence.
